Good Omens fancast (because of reasons)
- Mark Sheppard as Crowley
- Benedict Cumberbatch as Aziraphale
I take back what I said about letting people have their fun.
Nononononononononono.
Why do I keep seeing Mark Sheppard as Crowley? Whyyyy? What is it about him that even *suggests* the Serpent-of-Eden-esque, serpentine, both cool and very, very vulnerable and young-looking Crowley we know from GO? What is it? Surely there must be more to fancasts than characters sharing a name (and pretty much nothing else).
(As for Benny: Well, with the right clothing and hairstyle and at least the appearance of somewhat greater bodyweight and age, I could see it, but there’s undoubtedly someone who fits the role more naturally.)
I mean, no offense intended to your casting choices, but I think you really need to give that first one especially some deeper thought. SPN!Crowley =! GO!Crowley.
Funny! Cumberbatch and Sheppard are my current dreamcast for Hastur and Ligur. (Aziraphale and Crowley? bwahahahha NOPE. But I think they would be absolutely brilliant as the Lurkers. And you cannot possibly convince me that BC wouldn’t relish the chance to turn into a maggot monster and eat telemarketers.
Ergh. People should be banned for fancasting BCumbs as anything- I see him for all sorts of characters, none of which are fitting. (I found him on a Game of Thrones fancast the other day, and I was just like……whaaaaat the fuuuuck.) Currently I am all for Colin Firth!Aziraphale and you can talk me into Hiddleston!Crowley, although I am not always 100% on that. (As for everyone else: I want Alun Armstrong for Shadwell, for which I fully and entirely blame PBS re-running New Tricksconstantly; Matt Lewis aka Neville Longbottom for Newt, although if you suggest Colin Morgan I will accept this too, though I think he is too gorgeous for the role really; and although she’s a little too old now I was always a fan of Eve Myles for Anathema, or maybe an English Emma Stone as she has the right sort of odd combo of facial features that hasn’t really seemed to work against her.)
